House Alarm Engineers...?

Hi,

Looking for a bit of help if any experts on here....

House alarm Scantronic 9800 with 9827 Panel....

Was stripping walls in preparation for re-decorating at my folks house yesterday, I removed two PIR sensors but as I opened each one the alarm sounded. Keyed in the code which stopped the alarm however, the alarm panel now has a T code with the PIR sensor number lit on the Keypad...

After reading the manual, it appears these can only be reset by an Engineer being called, is this true or is there another way....?

Don't want to be shelling out some cash un-necessarily after my good deed... Big Cry

Thanks in anticipation..... Thumbs Up

T code is a tamper code. If you join the tamper wires together or reconnect the PIR you should be able to clear the fault

I had the same fun and games with mine (different alarm though) when we had our hall replastered. One still showed 'tamper' even when it was refitted, but upon inspection the microswitch had moved slightly in the case and was not making a connection.

Once the microswitch was 'popped' back in and the PIR's were refitted then it sorted the issue out. IIRC we had to set and unset the system to clear the fault.

As it happens, I'm an security/alarm engineer by trade, as rightfully said above, closing the PIR cover or shorting the tamper pair inside the PIR will clear the fault. Depending on how your system is configured, it may be set for engineer reset, it shouldn't be though. If it is, you will need the engineer code entered to clear the fault. You might hit lucky if it's the default code still, off hand, I think the sequence you would need to do if it's the default code is, 0 enter 7890, if it goes into engineer mode, the led's will flash, then to exit, key in 99 enter.

Once the PIR's are back together, key in your code number to arm the system then back in once more should reset it, if it doesn't just let me know, I have all the Scantronic manuals going back about 25 years so should be able to help you out if you get stuck. 2006 Mercedes CLS
