Go figure - My Fattie has been at JLR since last week Monday, took it in before the 5yr maintenance plan runs its course as the thump on turns was becoming more and more noticeable. despite their best attempts as per the technical bulletin a fresh brand new off the shelf transfercase was fitted, didn't cost me a dime, what a pleasure...!! |

Cam-Tech-Craig Please explain, apologies but I am not sure of the abbreviations and if they fall part of our warranty terms and conditions |

Thank you Cam & Verydisco. Admittedly I did not even note the market area detail you refer to, I found the bulletin purely because of researching the symptoms I was noting on the fattie.. I guess that we would then fall under ROW. Cannot see how the US market transfer case would be subject to this issue where the rest of the world possibly not from a warranty perspective.. But then we have the 5 year maintenance plan included in all our purchases and I do not know if this is a global offer or only certain countries.. When I booked her in for the royal flush I was dealing directly with the workshop manager at the time and he had mentioned a bulletin in this very regard applicable to our market, without my mentioning that I was even aware of the document which I had attached herein a few posts back.. Anyway, on questioning the procedure he replied that they do a lot of these, also quoted the double flush plus software update, but mentioned that on odd occasions they even go as far as stripping the case for clutch replacement... In my case I was informed last Thursday or Friday that they had initiated a warranty transfercase replacement request with JLR HQ, which was approved to my benefit & pleasure. Which means in iittle over 3 months both diffs have been replaced with new, both front & rear propshafts replaced with new, all sideshafts replaced with new and now new transfercase.. not bad for a vehicle with less than 20k miles, (if my km to mile converter works....) 3.5 months left of the 5 year JLR maintenance plan.... next week I tow my Jeep 200 miles to the mountain kingdom of Swaziland for some fun, let’s see what breaks or gives in then..... |
