L405 oil lever sender showing nothing

My oil level is inoperative on dash

Is sensor inside the sump or external 4.4sdv8

Australia 2012 Range Rover Autobiography TDV8 Bournville

The sensor is external on the TD/SDV8 whereas internal on the TD/SDV6.

Edit: Internal in the L405, external in the L322 version of the engines.

Well that's a backwards step! Do you know when it was moved inside?

Correction to my earlier post - the sensor is inside for all L405 4.4 TD/SDV8 whereas the exact same sensor is outside on the L322 version of the engine.

I had this issue. Major job. Was sorted when it went in for 2nd year service. I am sure the dealer said it was a known issue
