When i did my tdv8 one wheel up in the air would spin freely. Not sure if that helps as its a later car but assume the same. Re rear jacking points if you have a tow bar and high lift jack under there is fine. Aternativel where the suspension meets the sub frame and then jack stands on jacking points either side. I can never understand why handbrake shoes ever need replaced on a car after all you only use them when the car is stopped. Cleaned up yes but replaced? How do they wear down? |

@ nicedayforit - if the backing plate rusts and the pins holding the shoes in place fall out/tear out of the backing plate, the shoes will fall onto the inside of the drum. That is one sure way of needing new handbrake shoes 56 TDV8 Vogue SE

@ Andy_J - No, you need a new backplate, not new brake shoes !!

@ joe90 - unless you are lucky and notice the problem straight away, then the shoes rum on the bottom of the disc centre (drum) and overheat so when you go to fit a new back plate the shoes are shot.
