Having read through this with interest and hopefully not having to do it on mine in the near future, it seems that the heat shield bolts are a big part of the job.

I’ve therefore thought of a potential solution which may or may not work.

Given that the heat shield aperture only needs to be opened a few mm, could you use the special tool over the sensor once the wires have been chopped and then slide a core cutting bit over the special tool, so it acts as a guide and then use your fingers to oscillate the core bit until you’re through the heat shield? Appreciate that the special tool may only go on a bit, but it’s just there as a guide.

Ok

So I spent all Saturday forensically putting in the new sensor, and man it was the most nerve racking, awkward and apprehensive job on a car I’ve ever done!…. But I got it done, phew.

While I had the bonnet open I removed the donut plenum, egr pipe and throttle body and cleaned out all of that nasty black gunk that had accumulated up there and changed the egr temperature sensor on the top egr pipe. In addition I changed the boost control solenoid on the big turbo (nice easy job) as this had also been identified as bad on my diagnostic scanner. Now all of those codes have successfully cleared and don’t return 👌🏼

However, after restarting the car and chasing & sorting any air leaks, the old symptoms came back with the car going into limp move after an attempted rev & now I’ve got red dashboard warnings for blocked DPF filter of which is confirmed by my scanner 😩

Has anyone experienced anything similar & any recommendations on how to clean the DPF if that’s the problem……any pointers will be greatly received and I’ll update any success
