Exhaust hangers moved on later cars but if your able then they can be modded |

Sorry for the hijack but did Land Rover make more than one type of tow bar for the l322 just mine has what looks like a heavy duty fixed one but it has a combination hitch with a Land Rover plate on it |

The official tow bar is made by Westfalia, you can fit it with either a quick release to ball, or what is commonly know as the farmers hitch which allows you to bolt a regular tow bal at different heights. |

Pictures would help However, as above, sounds like you have the 'farmers hitch' or drop plate tow bar - if so, it bolts into a 50mm square receiver - and there is another detachable option. Does it look like this - |

So your's is an aftermarket unit made by Witter - and not the 'official' LR one made by Westfalia - there are other manufacturers who make a tow bar that fits a RR also. |

I have seen adjustable hitch mountings fitted to farmers hitch, I think miggit did it and I am pretty sure Sam (L19MUD) did something similar when he borrows my farmers hitch last year. |
