Mating surfaces means where the pads slide in the caliper NOT between the pad & piston(s) .

Don't add grease to the back of the pads - it does nothing positive !

It's worth adding that NO vehicle OR brake manufacturer uses grease between the pads & pistons to stop squeal.

I've just replaced all my brakes and the WM gives very specific instructions about applying grease to the areas on the back of the pads that are in contact with the pistons. 2021 D350 Fifty Edition - Carpathian Grey

I'm very surprised if the Land Rover manual suggests using grease between pads & pistons.

The new genuine pads I've just put on the front (6 pot brembo calipers) had a sticky adhesive layer on the back of each pad too. 2021 D350 Fifty Edition - Carpathian Grey 2017 4.4 SDV8 Autobiography (2021-2024) - Santorini Black 2012 4.4 TDV8 Westminster (2016-2021) - Santorini Black |
