Scotland 2004 Range Rover Vogue Td6 Bonatti Grey

ok update ! A simple hammer resoved my problem , cant believe it after all the time spent on electronics console off etc. I f only it clicked when I turned the key it might have given me a clue straight away.
Anyway, I have the starter off and ordered another s/h one . Ran a bench test on it and its certainly resistant to engageing and a bit rough with the drive wheel and bearing . Is there a grese that can be applies lighly to the mechanism, I'm thinking on the second hand one before it goes back in.

I got a s/h starter delivered and wasn't in a great state , so I stripped mine down which internally was in better condition . The real reason was the original body had a snapped bolt in it on the main body, I snapped it it had welded itself in with corrosion over the years, so removing the body from the s/h one was the solution . Rebuilt the internals cleaning them out first and lightly , very lightly dabbing with lithium grease in the plastic planetary gears and moving mechanical s , fitted it back on and the difference was amazing , a lot quicker turn over and smoother. Very PLEASED , JUST AN OPTION IF SOMEONE ELSE HAS THE SAME PROBLEM AS MYSELF.
