Yeah ... 12 is about right. You can fit just over 2m in length with the seats down, and the gap between the rear wheel wells is about 4ft. V8 or else ... |

Don't know about hay bales, but you can get a 8x4 sheet of plywood in, though it hangs over the lower tailgate by about a foot |
