2008 Range Rover Vogue TDV8 Zermatt Silver
08 TDV 3.6 Vogue BATTERY

Morning everyone.
I have a flat battery and reading the forums I should have a non AGM battery.
The label on the battery reads CPLA-10655-CA
AGM/VRLA/MF
12V 90aH 850A (EN)
The battery is flat, been sitting with little use for six weeks or so and I have tried a Batium charger on it but it doesn't want to play. Is it worth recharging with a better charger or buy a new battery? AGM or conventional type?
Thanks in advance for any help.

My MY08 TDV8 has had 2 batteries in the last 4 years. The most recent episode was a few weeks ago and even using a CTX battery charger wouldn't charge it enough to start the car more than once. My pattern of usage hasn't helped, as I'm away for long periods of time and use the car only at weekends, only for shortish journeys.
I definitely don't have an AGM battery and have replaced my old Bosch S5 with the same type. Sadly I misplaced the receipt, otherwise I would have had it replaced under (their 5 year) warranty.
I went for the S5 (110aH) as it has a much higher cranking rate that the "recommended" 90aH type. It's a little bit larger than the recommended but it is much more suited to our car type. Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue

I have same battery, my is original to the car so going on to 6 years old and still holding very well. you can look up date of the battery on the negative post, on top. first two numbers are weeks and other two year. my is 34 (mid september) 2011.
AGM batteries need slightly different charging algorithm which in my car I can change with IIDTool.

if the battery is totally flat do this:

What I did was jump start the battery with a Fiat 500 I also own. Connected it up and left it running for 15 min and the range rover started first time. Left this running for an hour and a half then put the battery charger on it. The voltage in the battery after running it was enough to allow the charger to go through it's checks and then charge the battery.

When I replaced the useless Bosch S5 in mine with an AGM battery ALL my battery woes went away.

Euro Car Parts suggested the S5 is Big but is also not the right ones for the FFRR. Is this where I put the car details and a bit about myself ?........

Nick, which AGM battery did you use?

The LR one or something a bit heavier duty? Porsche 911 (996)

Land Rover quoted me £175 for an AGM and they said it was 95AH and 850 cold crank, which sounds a little low compared with many non AGMs people use.

I had a parasitic drain, new battery was put in 6 months ago, but I guess with it being drained constantly it could have goosed it already.

Probably being paranoid, but after the drain and the dash lighting up some mornings because of it, I would rather play it safe for £175.
It has been fine, but when we start to get those cold mornings! Porsche 911 (996)

Cheers.

I will see if I get any battery errors before swapping, but will consider that one if I do change. Porsche 911 (996)

I would advise following someone like Craigs advice but maybe find out who makes the batteries for jlr becuase they obviously dont manufacturer the batteries themselves. 2015 4.4 AB
