Heating slow?

Is it just my FFRR, or do they all take an age to blow out some warm air?

Have mine set to 28 and it takes what feels like forever - SWMBO
isn’t happy. What do I put here then?

It's a big block of metal and modern diesels are quite efficient such that they don't waste much heat ... So it will take a while.

Even the petrol supercharged will take a couple of miles going uphill from cold before you get any real heat out the vents. V8 or else ...

What's the temp gauge reading ?

Mine takes a while but it's because the thermostat is failing.

Temp gauge at about 1/4 and still not flooding the cabin with heat.

SWMBO has an Evoque. She says that only takes a few mins to put out some warmth. What do I put here then?

Needs to be at the half way mark really. Does it ever reach half way or does it stay at a quarter?

Whistle I believe that is what the FBH, or, fuel burning heater is supposed to cure... The question is have you got one and is it working? My old TD6 would be blowing warm air after 7 or 8 minutes, even in the depths of winter. Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

It does get to half way - and heats the cabin then.

Just thought it was slow to warm up inside. What do I put here then?

Do have FBH and - as far as I can tell - it works.

Will have to do a more scientific test I think. What do I put here then?

With the TD6 it's hidden under the battery, and even with the engine running you can hear it when you get close to the near side gill.... sounds like a jet engine is lurking there! The other giveaway is the exhaust is there too, under the car, and you can often see steam rising from just behind the wheel... but only on days that you can see your breath!! Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Thank you. I’ve run the FBH some mornings to defrost the car and warm it a little.

That always worked.

And I’m fairly sure I’ve hear the jet engine whine other days too.

Will have a good look round - and listen - in the morning. What do I put here then?

So if you pre heat the car there is no problem?

It might be a configuration problem and it's not coming on with the engine... mine always fired up in to life when it was cold... wonder if it has a separate temp sensor for the FBH? Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

Although mine is petrol I had a recent problem with the heater and now mine produces warm air within a couple of minutes after starting. On the diesels the fuel burning heater should kick in if the temp is below 14c to assist with warming up.
The problem I had was a sticking valve which is located on the bulk head there is also a double that is located on the inner nearside wing. The double valve is to give you left and right heat but the one on the bulk head is the input (or at least on mine it was ) and the valve acts as a diverter but if stuck half way restricts heat coming from the either source so it takes an age to get heat into the cabin heat exchanger - there is also a secondary electric cooling pump which is down to the right of the radiator looking at the car the hose feeding this is from the thermostat (which is worth changing as they are cheap)but check the rad is getting hot on both sides front and left looking at car and check heat to bottom hose. Anyway hope this helps but if it gets hot but is just slow may well just be stat in cooling system
