General Grabber AT3

Anyone comment on these? I’ve read the posts further down,
Just put Two new AT2s on the front six months ago, and was looking to replace the rears with the same but unfortunately there’re not available!!
Don’t really want to shell out for four new tyres!!
Don’t really want two different tread patters!

They are a phenomenal tyre. I have x4 AT3’s on my disco 4 lux after getting fed up with punctures from flints and sharp stones off road in the borders.

They were silent (no more noise than the standard fit Pirelli) on a car which arguably is less well insulated cabin than a Range Rover. A 1mpg difference in mpg only

I used them pigeon shooting in feb traversing a very slippery wet and sloping headland and it never broke traction or required a change in off road mode

I used to run Generals, they will do 60k miles and fantastic off-road - had 3 sets but have Just bought a full set of Cooper 285/50/20's as I couldn't get Generals in this size - they certainly look very capable !

Agreed, but unfortunately due to EU rules the LTZ's are no longer available in the UK - they have ceased supply to the UK, only old stock is now being sold until they run out. The replacement is the AT3 Sport which also is available with a higher speed rating, as the LTZ was very low compared to the General Grabbers speed rating. 2021 L405 Vogue SE 4.4 V8 DIESEL ~ #17

Higher tire circumfence = Required adjustment of speedometer

I fancy with the same tire size 275/55r20 AT3s, but worry about the difference on the speedometer. Due to the larger circumfence compared to the original 255/50r20, is there the need to adapt the speedometer? It would indicate a 6% lower speed than it would on the original tires.

However, the reference must be the actual speed, right? As most speedometers indicate too little, could this still work out? In Germany, it is not allowed to have an indicated speed lower than the actual one. Don't know, if this would be the case here.

How about the rules in Switzerland?

Does anyone have experience with this topic?

The alternative would be the size 245/45r20, but I would prefer the larger diameter for comfort and optical reasons.

Thanks,
PH77

The 245/45r20 will be way too small compared to the original tyre size.

See here for comparisons......

Absolutely correct, I actually meant 275/45r20, which should be almost the same as the original, but still smaller ...

Anyone with an idea about the speedometer issue?

Australia 2008 Range Rover Supercharged 4.2 SC V8 Rimini Red

Just this week fitted four AT3's to replace Cooper Zeon's and they are steets ahead on noise and especially wet grip , I knew the Zoen's were poor just not how much. I ran the AT back in Scotland and loved them so I wanted to go back to them but they are not available anymore and thought the AT3 might be too road and winter biased but I'n not so sure now , time will tell butI certainly won't be able to test for their snow ability Shocked Laughing
Unfortunately they don't import the 275/55/20 so have to go with the 274/45/20 same size as the coopers. 2008 MY Supercharged
