Should be collecting my new RR on Monday so will need to insure the car, any recommendations that preferably don’t need a tracker ? I've been out of the country for nearly 7 years so am a bit behind on insurance companies are there some good comparison sites you could recommend ?

try 'go compare'...'confused '...and probably more if you google.

personally I would refuse to use "go compare" just because of their stupid adverts

Get your quotes as per Scary's advice gocompare and comparethemarket and get Adrian Flux to match thats what I do and had good success (saved me a few grand!)

They have a 4x4 department and I have never needed a tracker and I am only 24 and used them for 3 or 4 years. Fully comp, European recovery etc.

Thats my way of doing it.

Agreed, they have always come out considerably cheaper than compare the market and gocompare. The thing I hate about the latter two is that if you ever make the mistake of putting your phone number in you get a million phone calls, then the following year you'll get them again as you're on everyone's database.

I've used Adrian Flux & Sureterm in the past. Especially when running my 101 and IIa (very modified) they came in at very sensible prices with all modifications declared

Land Rover Insurance? Unfortunately I'm not at home so cannot give you the 0800 phone number. The LRI I mean though is the OLD, Royal and Sun Alliance scheme which isn't supposed to accept new business from Land Rover Owners, but the new LRI is operated by ***tstones Group and is a) way more expensive and b) required me to have a tracker fitted (which the car has anyway as it was one of LPR's demo cars). If you don't intend to venture offroad then any of the main stream insurers but avoid Direct Line/Churchill/Admiral as they are all part of the Royal Bank of Scotland Group and RBS also is the owner of Trakker or NavTrak so those insurers insist on a trakker on cars over about 35,000 pounds or they refuse cover - keeps business in the group healthy too!  2018 Mini Countryman Cooper S E All4 PHEV in Melting Silver - it’s whisper quiet in EV and polluter modes

When it comes to phone numbers i just put in either some random company or someone i hate ,,,,,,,,

I gave Confused.com a unique email address which I can monitor. I get an unbelievable amount of spam email from financial services companies (very dodgy ones at that) on that address.

I would not use "go compare" on principle as they have the most annoying adverts ever devised by man and insist on inflicting them on us regularly. I would willingly punch whoever sanctions those ads until my fist was a bloody stump.

Swiftcover were the most competitive for me and you can manage it all online very easily.

I found that for my 2011MY RR, Land Rover Insurance was actually quite competative in their quote. I'm not so squeeky clean as others as I like to drive a bit! Oh, and I'm also a tad older than others have mentioned!! Those days are past as I've ditched the sports cars for FFRR (need to think of the ever growing family you know).

But seriously thought it was not too bad with LRI and liked the fact that in case of a claim they specialise so straigh off to main dealer without fighting. Only allow use of genuine parts etc, etc...

Thing with insurance is it's a funny old thing and each individual has different experience as depends if you fit particular firm's key demographic.

Finally I would never use a comparison site again without setting up a load of false information, e-mail, tel number etc. I tried many moons ago and was not ever left alone until I tried to block my phone which eventually I had to change and then had to burn my mail account. All a pain! If you do use them though, when you find the lowest quote clear cookies and go directly to the insurer, or phone I've found I can usually get a better deal.

i have used comparison sites for many years , for car and house insurance and utilities and i have never had any spam mail or emails that i couldn't handle ...must have done something different...

Knowing you some other poor sod is getting them .........
