I'm away tonight but from memory I turned over the engine and looked at the timing mark on the crank case and the first two inlet and exhaust cam lobes on the left bank looking at the engine have to be pointing towards each other at 45 degrees which gets you near and then I had a socket bar on the crank bolt and wiggled that back and forth slightly while inserting the pin in the flywheel with the other hand, it's easier than it sounds. If you are not on the compression stroke the lobes will not point to each other

This is from beisan site.
It is a long job and the key is labelling and bagging everything in labelled bags and reading and rereading the procedures.
With the right tools there is nothing difficult but timing the engine is the critical part.

Yes, my thoughts were doing it that way too but they tell you, every where you read to do it before you remove the crank shaft pulley.
I prefer to remove the crankshaft pulley, the water pump, the alternator etc before I open up the engine.
Just my way of thinking.
Having read about the problems people have had removing the crankshaft pulley, and someone breaking a ľ drive socket, I didn’t want to take any chances.
I used all eight bolts and a 1” drive socket.
It wasn’t a problm

I wanted to crack the bolt first as you need to turn the engine over to line up the holding tool so once i had loosened the bolt I then carried on with the locking procedure and removing all the other gear
I broke a 3/4 drive bar as it was the swivel type rather than the sliding type like yours which is better.
i used a long gas pipe over the bar.

These are quite good instructions to follow, plus you have rave and there is a good youtube set of videos.

I watched this series of videos while i had spare time just to get an understanding of what was involved, really helped me.
