Good job... I love a happy ending

To line back up I used a bit of card and some grease on the ends of the points to get a rough idea then gently pushed the bonnet up and down on the springs, you can tell when they are alliigned it sounds and feels right.

It does tend to suggest that the bonnet release assembly as a whole is something we all take for granted and ignore until it goes wrong. I think I will be out tomorrow with the grease can to do a full inspection and lubrication job.
It's obviously a Censored when the bonnet is locked in place and won't open.
