High Beam Mod

Got these bad boys delivered and going to replace the halogen ones to match the Xenons. Can't wait.






Next project is the replace the side fins to color coded ones.. Zermatt Silver[/img]

there is no delay unlike halogen bulbs and gives a flash effect.. It's looks cool Current:

How can they be 80W per lamp when the quoted running current is a maximum of 670mA. More like 8W per lamp.
80W per lamp and they would need a method of disipating the heat.

My thoughts exactly , everything I have tried runs with a cooling fan because of the heat generated and that is before I believe the fantasy outputs quoted, I'm now trying some with a great big bunch of braided tails to dissipate the heat to keep the noise down of four or six cooled lamps running. 2008 MY Supercharged

Most of these aftermarket bulb are not E stamped, they can look good and they can be more effective then normal bulbs however if you have an accident this is a quick way of blaming you for the accident or voiding the insurance for non compliant parts being fitted

Lumens are the unit for visible light output, watts for input power. Typically approaching 5 times as many lumens per watt from LED as from halogen so a LED drawing 8 watts from 12 V should be roughly equivalent to a 40 Watt halogen.

Bit more complicated in practice because what you actually see and how many lumens you measure depend on how the native monochromatic LED light is turned into "white". Visual effect differs too. See warm white, cool white and daylight white for domestic LED bulbs. Considerably more light, as in brighter, for your watt from daylight white than from warm white. May also get more light into the useful beam pattern with LED rather than Halogen making things look even brighter.

PS took a closer look at the advert. Looks like its 640 mA (nominal) draw at 24 Volts input for 1500 lumens which is about right for 80 watts equivalent. LED should run on constant current so how they get the 12 V and 24 V capability in with proper 24 V current draw I don't know.

Don't worry about sorting the bulbs out for error free, just turn of bulb check in LCM I'm sure if a high beam bulb is out you would notice it

80W per light would also be illegal for road use in UK
