I believe you can get a block heater for the Jag engine? Then you just plug in every night with a weatherproof socket by the tow bar or something... run it on a household timer to kick in an hour before you set off in the morning...

A cheaper alternative might be the Kenlowe electric heater that Dan had last year. It sits in the coolant circuit (heater circuit actually) and functions the same as a FBH w/o the fuel and the burning (uses mains power) so it can theoretically be installed on any car.

What did you do with yours, Dan? Did you ever install it (does it work well)?

United Kingdom 2006 Range Rover Vogue SE Supercharged Java Black

Our wake-up alarm went off this morning and I forced my eyes open remembering the heater, I pressed the button on the remote switch to turn it on, then went straight back to sleep for a few more minutes kip.

I awoke 10 minutes later feeling rather pleased with myself for not forgetting to turn on the heater, I went downstairs to get some breakfast and discovered that I had actually turned on the Censored Christmas tree lights.

So the heater was only on for about 15 minutes, but thankfully that was long enough to defrost all the windows, and more importantly unstick the frozen doors.

Cheers

Who owns a Range Rover and lives in a block of flats? And surely if that was the case it would be a cheap oil burner with the FBH fitted as standard anyway!

Err... I do... Smile

Really? How quaint.

dantheman going come back now and tell you its a penthouse in kensington.. Laughing

dont tell your insurance company... Whistle

Laughing If only it was a penthouse! Nothing quite so grand I'm afraid - just a quaint little flat for work - perfectly functional, as bang on the Quayside/city centre and only a short drive into work. The estate agent was clean out of 19th Century cottages or farmhouses with detatched stables I'm afraid Dan... Embarassed

And I do hope the gent with the TDV8 along from me doesn't read this and is upset by the cheap oil burner remark...

Apparently around the Liverpool area, temperatures lower than -17 degrees C were recorded last night... a tad chilly!

@47p2: Wouldn't have thought that you'd have enough trouble to warrant a FBH with your car being in a garage. Mine is fine being in secure underground parking when in Newcastle - no frost/ice and starts on the button. Down here in Burnley also fine under a carport (apart from the dvrs door lock freezing on me the other day, but a minor problem nonetheless).

My SC has some form of FBH on it. I n the menu I have an option of timed climate plus I have another remote fob to turn it on.

During this weather I've turned it on 15-20mins before going out and the car has been nicely warmed.

Will it be the webasto one?
