I'll give it a go but it does say DVD on the front of it. Just wondered if there is a certain range of part numbers that aren't compatible with RR? Ash

AFAIK all MKIV's are compatible. Getting the unit to read the discs is not always easy - especially if the laser is on it's way out (always a risk on ebay units...). Laser replacement is not too bad though - DIY is under €50 if you're handy with tools and a soldering iron, replacement costs around €130 over here.

Thanks Mate - Just tried an original working DVD from an 05 RR in the workshop. Same message so me thinks, unless there are certain non compatible units, the DVD drive or lens is knackered.

I'd still guess: laser dying, not quite dead...

I had the french dash display when I had used a dodgey map disc. In the settings for Voice to do you have GB GB? In mine I think it was GB and blank. Do you have NavCoder? I had to use NC to downgrade the FW I think. Although my memory is a bit sketchy from a year or so ago.
