I'll give it a go but it does say DVD on the front of it. Just wondered if there is a certain range of part numbers that aren't compatible with RR? Ash

AFAIK all MKIV's are compatible. Getting the unit to read the discs is not always easy - especially if the laser is on it's way out (always a risk on ebay units...). Laser replacement is not too bad though - DIY is under €50 if you're handy with tools and a soldering iron, replacement costs around €130 over here.

Get high quality discs and burn at the slowest speed possible. Depending on what sw you have, you may need to dl different sw. I've used ImageBurn with success. UltraISO is alsosupposed to be OK.

Thanks Mate - Just tried an original working DVD from an 05 RR in the workshop. Same message so me thinks, unless there are certain non compatible units, the DVD drive or lens is knackered.

ps - I even ran my DVD cleaner disk through it to see if it was just dirty but nothing doing. Ash

Update..

Thanks to Daveo - Just tried a new dvd copy (backup of course) and can now the MKIV unit works correctly and I get 3d maps etc..

One issue however - it does not seem to want to read the V32 Update disc and cannot get postcode entry nor can I change the dash display from French..!!

Any clues - perhaps I've done it wrong but the screen keeps saying insert correct DC/DVD disc. Ash

I had the french dash display when I had used a dodgey map disc. In the settings for Voice to do you have GB GB? In mine I think it was GB and blank. Do you have NavCoder? I had to use NC to downgrade the FW I think. Although my memory is a bit sketchy from a year or so ago.

For your post code - I'd bet you're trying to add it into the address entry?

You have to go to Information - Travel - UK Postcodes, this is also where you turn on the speed camera icons.

Let me know if you need further help with postcodes and I'll go take a look at mine with some screenshots.
