I've just received one which I purchased for £100, but it was listed for 'spares or repair' since it has a disk read error. This seems to be quite common, and the fix is either £150 purchased through ebay, or can be done as a diy by the very brave.

I thought I may as well buy one with the problem, then I can get it fixed and warranted, rather than pay full price for a working one which may fail the next week.

Probably a silly question, but when you download the new maps from myrangerover... it needs a DVD of over 5gb, I can't find any with over 4.7gb capacity. Am I being stupid here? I can't see any option to burn it to more than two disks.

Cheers,

you dont need a bigger disc you must of downloaded some thing extra as the mk4 unit is a single layer map and fits easly on the standard disc, i always use a good branded disc, tdk ect RW+ and as slow as you can. V8 facelift Range Rover Autobiography 22" wheels.

bit of confusion here..
the dvd that goes in the touch screen navs needs a dual layer dvd to burn the iso onto [full europe 6.90gb]..
the pre touch screen using the mk4 nav unit uses a normal recordable dvd [like what dave says] ... - .- -.

ok, the downloads links that have be posted will allow you to download a v3.2 update disc and map are for the mk4 dvd unit that you find on the x5 and most people ugrade with on the pre touch screen. not the later denso unit that can be identified by the lock switch on the right hand side as you look at it and as scarey said you will need a duel layer burner to do a map/update disc,

completely confused now.

Downloaded the dvd maps and the v32 update from myrangerover.co.uk and have 2 iso files on my desktop. When these get burnt to disk, what should be visible on the dvd. Should it be the 1 iso file or should it expand them when burning to show all files in the route of the dvd.

Fine for the v32 update but when I expand all files and try to bur these to dvd it says I need 5.19Gb disck space so need a bigger disk..??

I've tried various options but my unit keeps saying insert correct disk...

Also my dash has now come up in french... Big Cry Ash

hi, you burn one file to each disc, end up with 2 disc, do not unzip any thing.the map should be done as slow as poss. the v3.2 should be a small file around 550mb and the map will go on a standard dvd, unless you have downloaded the map for 2005 and later, that needs a duel layer and will not work in the mk4 units V8 facelift Range Rover Autobiography 22" wheels.

making an educated guess here..sounds like the small file is the firmware update which you put in first then take out and put the large disc in which holds the mapping...it also sounds like the language has defaulted to french, go into the menu and change that.... ... - .- -.

Thanks Daveo,

I tried that but got the same message "insert correct dvd/cd.. etc" Perhaps I could have a copy from you (as I'm sure yours are tested and working in your unit). Thanks

Sounds correct on what I have. Only problem now is I can't find a menu to change the language. The Screen is showing in English but the dash shows in French. Not a big problem but would like to get it changed back again. Ash

Hi Folks - I know I've seen it here somewhere but search did not find it for me. Is there a list of part numbers for what model DVD Nav unit will work in a RR (a MKIV BMW unit)

The one I have just keeps saying insert correct CD/DVD and want to be sure the unit is correct but faulty before shouting at the ebayer I bought it from. Don't want to look silly if it's the wrong unit anyway.

Part number on mine is a BMW one - 6590 6 942 908 01

Thanks Ash
