PCV System *preventative work*

Hi all

Just purchased, 2002 L322 Vogue 4.4 V8 Petrol with 140K on the clock. Very good condition. Gearbox overhauled 2012. Had full service 1st Nov
New Fuel Pump, water pump, condenser rad, Oxygen sensor, crank sensor.

Its sweet now and i want to keep it that way. I hear doing the PCV system is a smart mans move.

Fill me in. Is it worth it?

Doing mine and associated hoses this weekend..take your engine cover off and look at the back where its in situ...my pipes are soft and gummy and a definite problem in the making...don't reckon mine has ever been changed...if it goes it can cause you to lose your engine through oil loss, best case scenario is leaking pipes leaving your engine in a oily mess with ...mines is the latter and certainly worth spending £100 on as a safeguard Thumbs Up

Oh yes, that and the oil separator and it's 3 pipes. Also look to do the thermostat hack there's a good thread on here all about it, Haylands (Pete) did a very good write up. It lowers the temps in the engine and is probably the best mod you can do to extend the life of your engine / cooling system.

Nice, thanks. I will. Any other little tips. I was thinking Gearbox/Diff fluid swap for starters...

Not intentional mate Laughing . It's a good mod though, I did mine and when I started it up for the first time it just sounded different, more relaxed if that sounds right.

Anyway it doesn't effect the interior heating at all, still nice and toasty Thumbs Up

Oh and very fast delivery too....... ______________________________

Always a good idea to do fluids and filters but our rangies need specific fluids, if you do it yourself then you know what goes in, but if you put it into a workshop then make sure they know what fluids and the methods of putting them in.

Cam cover gaskets is another favourite, mine was dumping oil in a couple of spark plug holes and also oil over the smoking hot exhaust.
I have the thermostat mod to do and I also have a brand new standard 88 deg stat that is a straight swap which I might chuck in for ease
