They are really common in Australia, we call them a "tow hitch pin" or Receiver hitch pin available at most places that sell towing equipment. I have the lockable version on mine to stop theft.

If your going to go the Standard Pin with the spring clip, may I suggest you ditch ther clip, drill out the hole in the pin to a size that will fit a small lockable padlock. It doesn't take much for a mischievous person/ pranskter top pull out that pin whilst you are parked somewhere. |

We do have some oxygen bandits here in Australia, we are trying to add more chlorine to the gene pool to breed them out though , but some find it funny to steal boat trailers or remove and steal chain shackles. We have a large population of water sport enthusiasts here with an abundance of water and leisure activities, lots of us own boats. We park at public boat launch facilities, some might be jealous of others and do these things in spite. |

There is a modification which replaces the pin with a nut and bolt which is torqued up quite high, stops the bar rattling which can be a bit annoying after a few miles.

One solution to stop thieves is park like this, but then some thief might have scuba gear.
