Rear toe arm replacement TD6

Went to get an air con regas but was told there’s no gas in the system (that’ll be another thread, lower priority at the moment).
Had the tracking done, or attempted to be done and was told both rear toe arms need replacing.
The print out looks awful, no idea why the Mrs never noticed it when driving.

Any idea of cost/how many hours labour to get the arms replaced? The guy said it’s a big job due to the air suspension etc and they would never touch it

Any ideas gents? Am I going to need to remortgage the house?? Big Cry

It's a difficult job in that the bolts will be seized. The subframe doesn't need removing but you would be also advised to get the outer upper and lower ballpoints replaced at the same time. Having air suspension has nothing to do with it so find a specialist Land Rover indy to do the work. BTW it looks like you have some issue at the front that are not just tracking ( steering tie rod adjustment) 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

The air suspension is not related and a total red herring by the garage.
They might know enough to just want to put you off !

However, replacing them can be real pig because of siezed bolts / nuts & ball joints.
When I did mine I think it took maybe 3 hours per side - because I had to use a reciprocating saw to cut through both ends of the bushes in the arms to remove them & removing the ball joints from the hub ends was painfully slow as the ball joint taper started turning in the hub before the retaining nut was fully off.
If I remember I then had to use an allen key in the top of the ball joint while turning the nut a 1/6 of a turn at a time with a spanner. Both spanner & allen key wanted to round off the relevant hex features, so very nerve racking.

There are probably comprehensive write-ups in forum posts if you do a search.
Actual component cost is low. Hopefully a good indy knows what to do / how to do it & you'd be paying for less than 5 hours labour + cost of 4 wheel alignment.
As said, if rear bushes haven't been done for many years, they might be worth doing at the same time OR rear wheel alignment could still be out (although readings look OK suggesting maybe OK bushes), accelerating rear tyre wear significantly.
What does your rear tyre wear pattern look like - even across the tyre or tapered ? Paul,

PS Looking at the 4 wheel alignment report, it looks like there are LH front camber problems as well as toe-in being way-out.
What did they do about the toe-in & say about the camber ? Paul,

Can I suggest getting someone who knows what they are talking about to check all the front and rear arms, bushes etc

I think you may have more problems than they think, and it could get very expensive...

As for rusty bolts, totally agree I used an HGV 3/4inch rattle gun on mine and snapped two of the bolts and boy they are thick bolts....

If you can soak everything in penetrating fluid for weeks before hand it would make life easier....
