Suspension leveling

Hi all,

FFRR 2007 SE

Since having the two EGR valves done on the FFRR and having the garage take a look at a knocking noise the front suspension looked high compared to the back end.

So tonight I plugged in my IIDTool and started going through the levelling guide which I think I did wrong.

Now when I press down nothing happens and when I press up all the dash says is "suspension slowly rising" and then a message says something like "please wait for the compressor to cool down" or words of that effect.

When I started the measurement the car was at its normal riding height and the GAP app said to measure from the middle of the wheel hub to the lower lip of the arch and it said 19 1/4" for the front and 19" for the back.

Well the back struggled to hit 18" and now since Ive saved the settings I can lower but rising takes ages and the above message shows up.

Any ideas?

If you push it up and down loads it drains the air reservoir and the pump has to do all the work, it wasn't designed to do that. It's supposed to pressurise the reservoir over a period then use that stored pressure is used to raise and lower the car. Those messages relate to the fact that the reservoir is depleted.👍 There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Standard height settings are 493mm front and 483mm rear

Your measurements converted from inches are 489mm front and 483mm rear. The front heights you have are within tolerance range, but if anything lower than standard.

Front is set higher than rear for approach heights (I understand).

I have set my rear up by 15mm, as like you, felt the car looked like it was always falling backwards Wink

If I press the level button the FF lowers to standard height and the display says standard.

Shocked I think I know what's wrong.. the car in diagram is an L405 they are 400KG lighter.. no wonder it thinks it's slow.. it's just put on half a ton Laughing

So it not getting up? Has it been doing the slow bit from cold? straight off? or has this happened whilst multiple height checks have taken place?

If it's straight from the word go then I suspect that the piston ring is past it's best.. whether you can get a rebuild kit for the later EAS pump is anyone's guess, I haven't seen them, but then I haven't really looked... but I can't see why they wouldn't make one. I'm sure that some nice peep will tell us Smile

Might be worth checking the boot for damp.. in the form of puddles.. the EAS pumps don't like being drowned and this can effect their performance.... Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

Before I attempted to level the suspension it worked 100% without fail. I have a feeling it's to high, when I press up the body lifts and continues to lift until the message shows.

After a few seconds then the cooling down wait message shows and if I press the level button on the above screen the body drops quite a way and levels out.

So what I'm trying to find out is at what point do I start taking measurements when it's at its lowest, middle or highest point.

Also, the screen on GAP IIDTool shows I'm -22ish on one wheel (not correct can't remember) so do I reduce this to zero on all corners? Range Rover quotes.....

I levelled the FF last night and the below pic shows the info but I can't use the up or down as I used to.

on activation the iidtool saves all the settings so go into the restore menu and it will all go back .. ... - .- -.

I can remember seeing that option and it didn't work but tried it again and it seams to be working as normal.

Maybe the fact the compressor was hot causing the slow rise message.

Why 06 s dont show highway mode?
03 s have an icon showing highway height.
Is there a possibility its not lowering since it is not so stable.
