Front seat heaters are built into the leather so are not interchangable... |

So what's the one on eBay advertised as "Range Rover Vogue 2006 on Front Heated Seat Base Element, HGL500040"? This looks like a pad. |

I'm confused though...some people say there's wire built in to the foam base and that its difficult to replace but your link and the seat pad I've seen would suggest that the heated seat works as an element within a pad and not built into the foam seat base. Can anyone clarify. Maybe I'm having a blonde moment |

I think the 2002-2005 seat bases are different to the newer versions. I understood it that the older versions has the heating element built into the leather seat, but the newer versions have separate components. Tom

Well since I bought mine, the only thing that has never worked is the drivers heated seat.

It's a 52 plate, so with the pad built into the seat, that's why ther so blerdy expensive!

Sounds like a bargain to me if that's a whole seat for £30?!

That's the same problem I have with my drivers seat, which points to a faulty element in the seat or an open circuit somewhere (connector or wiring issue). You can check seat back element and two seat base side elements by removing the rear seat back (where the storage pocket is attached to) and checking the connectors inside with a meter. Checking the actual central seat base can be slightly more complicated depending on what you find with the other elements (if the others work and you measure an open circuit on the main connector under the seat the central base element is US). I found I had 3 elements US, one base side, base central and back element! As previously mentioned if the central base element is OK then you can bypass all the other faulty elements and the heating should work. I wouldn't recommend bypassing the central base element and using the others as the central base contains the temperature control feedback, with no feedback the elements could overheat. Bypassing the faulty elements would be a cheap 'fix' providing the central base element is OK, unfortunately the central base element is probably one of the first to go! |
