Do some googling on those fault codes but I'm pretty sure that is your camshaft position sensor starting to fail... timing would give the fault you are getting... Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Pete

I found the SHFT in a different menu and got readings from -14 + 18

Hmm so Camshaft means Vanos issue - this is a marathon fix right!?

Sorry Pete I was out and about gathering readings and didn't read that properly!

So Meeknet gives a fairly thorough write up on replacing these?

It's unusual for them both to fault... maybe worth a bit of reading to see if it's an indication of something else failing.... maybe it is a vanos issue and they are out of alignment or something and the ECU thinks the sensors are faulty... the diagnostics works in a very basic way, it can't tell if the sensor has failed, it just knows it's getting the wrong reading from them, and that could be because of a number of issues... Try the BMW forums for answers... Thumbs Up Pete

I am having very similar issues to the op - did the sensor fix the problem?
Do they always put a code in when failing as I don’t have one? Current stable:
2006 BMW M6
2007 4.2 V8 S/C FF
Gone:
2002 4.4 V8 FF
