Do some googling on those fault codes but I'm pretty sure that is your camshaft position sensor starting to fail... timing would give the fault you are getting... Pete

I found the SHFT in a different menu and got readings from -14 + 18

It's unusual for them both to fault... maybe worth a bit of reading to see if it's an indication of something else failing.... maybe it is a vanos issue and they are out of alignment or something and the ECU thinks the sensors are faulty... the diagnostics works in a very basic way, it can't tell if the sensor has failed, it just knows it's getting the wrong reading from them, and that could be because of a number of issues... Try the BMW forums for answers... Pete
