Personally would not do it. Engine designed to run with a 'stat for a reason. Have you tried / checked your coolant cap?

If coolant is below running (normal) temp the ECU will compensate by increasing fuel thinking it is still in warm up mode. The knock on is high fuel consumption. |

hi have changed thermostat for 80 deg no noticeable difference in mpg . lpg changeover time is the same engine def cooler can put hand on top hose now . i have not tried caravan towing yet but will keep posted when i do .engine sounds better and is running great so fingers crossed my mpg is reading 20,4 at the moment and has not changed in 2 weeks give or take .4 mostly urban and a little motorway never above speed limit |
