Bought a 2006 RR Vogue SE back in May. Everything working fine and delighted with it. A couple of weeks ago I ejected and re-inserted the Nav DVD from the Denso SatNav system to check which version it was as I was considering an upgrade. Around the same time I also had to disconnect the battery for a few hours. After this I noted that on occasion several of the buttons on the satnav screen were sometimes grayed out when in motion and would come back if we stopped. Initially I thought it could be a loose connection but after some research I came across the "1791 hack" to temporarily disable the safety feature preventing Nav entry when in motion. I also read that this hack was then disabled in later DVD map upgrades.
I think the Nav in motion safety feature is what I am looking at here but have to say the sometimes all Nav menu buttons become available even when driving. If so how do I permanently enable Nav in motion again - I am using a genuine 2014 RR DVD Map (pictured here) and the Denso touchscreen system.
Grateful for any help on this since I have been on the internet for some days and cannot find any recent information.

I don't know if this trick will work on Rangies (those with a conventional handbrake) but it works on our 2009 Subaru Forester.

Pulling up slightly on the handbrake fools the GPS and we can make entries. I keep intending to fit a another switch to emulate the handbrake switch. Ron B. VK2OTC

the last official nav disc landrover produced was a 2011 one....any 2014 disc [like yours] will be a pirated hybrid/subaru disc ..............

I will look into purchasing the IIDTool. A bit expensive for a single task at £300 but I am sure will come in useful for the future.

Great to hear about yet another use for the IID. I thought the "hack" only worked with the oldest of the L332s.

Does anyone have a step-by-step for nav-on-the-move for a 2008?

I've done this on my 2007, and I agree 100% with John that you must take your time and follow all the steps carefully. Initially I didn't and I got into bothers, but (not for the first time) Pat from GAP got involved and corrected my mistakes.
The IID tool is a great piece of kit with superb customer service back up.

Just a follow-up to the original post to confirm that I have got things working on my 2006 and also to reply to RR2008HSE from "Beautiful BC":
1. Your Multimedia module (MMM, installed from the Nav DVD disc) must be version 1040 or higher - i.e. 2007 disc or later. Instructions on how to check this are in the GAP pdf manual referred to earlier.
2. I bought the IIDL tool from McDonald 4x4 in the UK (via Britpart) at a slight discount from the £300 advertised on the GAP website.
3. The instructions I followed are exactly the same for all RR from 2006-2009 - so it should work on your 2008. Later and earlier models are also supported as in the pdf. The "1971 Hack" did not work for me as expected.
4. Flashed the IIDL tool with the "special" firmware for nav on the move.
5. Connected a back-up power source to my battery and then went through all 3 stages in turn without messing around in between. Took in all about 80 mins.
6. went for a test drive - now have full "Nav on the Move".

Much thanks for all this help. Wow, this seems a lot more complicated that I thought.

So, I've got the 2008 FFRR and the non-BT "first hardware version" on the IID (according to the manual). The map disc is the "brand news" (you JLR!) 2012 disc.

I do NOT have a battery maintainer, so it looks like I need to do the steps separately, right?

It looks like I don't have to install special software on the IID for this, unlike the BT-IID, right? But I need to have the IID plugged into a computer for the proceedure, right? Hmm. Not done that before.

So, key in accessory position, handbrake OFF, IID in ORB2 socket, AND connected to laptop. Monitor on IID software on computer.

Now, here's where I get confused. p102 in the manual just says "The tool will proceed with an automatic CCF change..." Really? All I've done is plug it in and it has never done all that before? Can someone make this a bit clearer? At this point, I should get "IID Tool Ready" on the FFRR instrument pannel. Am I selecting a special programme the way the BT-IID does?

Thanks in advance. I'm cautious because having a working L322 without Nav-on-the-Move beats a non-working L322 with NotM!

I got all the details from GAP. Now I just have to work up the courage...

I get the impression that if you follow all the steps carefully it works well. Also hear that the GAP service support is excellent - so you might like to do it when their offices are open. Just make sure your laptop does not go dead in the middle of a flash.
