Best entertainment upgrade for MOST systems

Dear All,
Had my 2006 L322 for some months now and have been searching the boards for up to date information on upgrading the entertainment system from the original 2006 specs. There seems to be a lot of info out there for the BMW units before MOST but less for the fibre optic system from 2006-2009.
Ideally I would want the following:
1. Not to have to replace the head unit so I don't lose any of the original functionality.
2. Plug and play replacement of the analogue tuner for digital TV.
3. Keep the functionality of the head rest rear screens and also the wireless head phones.
4. Control everything from the OEM front touch screen and not lose any functionality (reversing camera / venture cam etc).
5. DAB radio
6. USB input to play movies (even if USB slot needs to be in boot module).
To be specific I have the facelift 2006 Vogue SE with original reversing camera and venture cam and the fibre optic MOST system.

Would be grateful if people could share their experience of units that work or even installers in the Manchester area.

I used to have that model although mine was the 2007 and when I looked at it the options were limited.

The TV tuner is a plug and play swap to the digital version.

In terms of upgrading the rest it depends entirely on what you want to achieve. DAB was never an option so you need an aftermarket unit. There are plenty of examples of this on here already so a search will reveal that.

I looked at sound quality and it really was a case of having the Harmon Kardon amplifier modified and replacing the speaker drive units. This was going to be a very specialist job, something I spoke to Genesis about in great depth. Bottom line was I was staring at a bill over 3k for amp mods and replacement speakers, and all of this would have been done never having heard what it would sound like at the end. A big risk, one I didn't end up taking.

Everything else I looked at was going to include a head unit replacement with all the loss of OE functionality that entailed. I'm not one to shy away from such things normally (I've built sound-off cars in the past) and electronics don't frighten me but genuinely, the last word was that it is such a closed system you have to rip and replace rather than do subtle upgrades.

There are jag/Land Rover hybrid TV tuners available and the are simply plug and play ebay is an obvious place to start but I believe Cam Teck Craig has them although you would have to ask , there are unfortunately people who sell Japanese spec tuners which don't work unlike the rest of the world ones do a search on the many many threads here on the subject .
The only other upgrade possible on the MOST system that has been easily available is what s called the Audio Connectivity Module it is very expensive and getting hard to find , it gave USB and an old fashioned iPod connection with just five playlists and one random because it emulated the CD changer , copies have been made but Land Rover has shut them down as they appear because of software infringements but I think there is one from Russia currently still for sale maybee someone who has it can put a link up for it .
And that is your options I'm afraid .

Just did a seach for you and this is the last site still standing but it was four pages in on my google search so may well be down as well http://www.incaroem.com/mcar-ipod-bluetoot...p-251.html 2008 MY Supercharged

Thanks for all the feedback.
I found the following service advertised via ebay which would seem to sort out the digital TV as an alternative to a land rover hybrid unit:

Anyone have any experience good or bad with this product.
And I am intending to keep the original DVD system in place and possibly add the audio system that Weegie recommends. Hopefully this will all be compatible?

Hi Axle
That is a fair point and something I was concerned about. However many of the land rover hybrid units that state they are compatible with my year of RR (2006 L322) are going for the same price of £275 (used) or greater and they don't come with USB input to play MP4, e.g.
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LAND-RANGE-ROVER...Sw-YVXmKah

There are other cheaper ones out there but they seem only to be compatible with newer models and then there is the task of avoiding the japanese models which will not work in the UK. I am sure it is possible to adapt an aftermarket unit from ebay but I have not found one that comes as a complete kit for the L322 and I fear loss of compatibility with the touch screen controls. Are there specific options you know about?
