United Kingdom 2004 Range Rover Vogue 4.4 V8 Java Black

When I started driving in the mid to late 80s thefts were bad on average cars due to poor security, steering locks were available but for good measure I used to wire a secret switch under the seat in the carpet that cut the electric supply to the fuel pump.Did not matter if it was hotwired or they nicked the keys ,they were not going to get it started.I still think this is the best security wether your FF is worth 3 grand or 100 grand.it is not hard to do,maybe someone could tell us if this is hard to do or cause any problems .

Trackers are great, but I'm the end would you want it back after it had been crashed and bashed by a load of eejits with nothing better to do with their lives.

Insure it properly with a decent company, not a meercat.
Lock it.
If they nick it let them keep it.

So long as you have all the keys there shouldn't be a way the insurance company can't pay out. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

I've always been of the mindset that once it's gone, I don't want it back.

How many is 'all the keys' though Whistle I have 3 keys programmed to mine......

IIRC that 2 keys would be enough. How would they know if you had more...... (apart from interrogating the ECU on a car which has disappeared) Whistle There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

I'm the same.

Even if it "appears" to have nothing damaged, the b***ards are more likely to have abused it. There's no telling what has occurred underneath and you can bet the insurers won't be interested in paying for an LR dealer to give it a thorough check over before returning it to you. Shocked Shocked

Trouble is, the money they would offer probably wouldn't get you an equivalent replacement..... Big Cry which is what they rely on to get you to take the car back. 2021 D350 Fifty Edition - Carpathian Grey

Further, if they do lie in wait, then the thieves drive off in the car and heaven forbid crash and hurt themselves, the police would be in a deep pile of the proverbial cos they "let it happen".

yea, I get that. God forbid that the idiots take off and run a child over!

but are the thieves sitting and watching? if not why cant they just pull the fuses to the fuel pump or something and render the car immobile. then sting them when they turn up.

Police said highly unlikely they will get it back. Insurance have approved the claim so will hopefully get the number this week. So the search begins. 2011 5.0SC Santorini Black
