i think most families have a large car for long journeys and a smaller one for shopping, in my case a FFRR and a chevy matiz...those that are lucky enough to be able to have two FFRR's or a FFRR and RRS then fair play to them ...

Yep.. there's no way i could justify a Sport to use as a second car!! When we work similar hours we use the Mini to commute (i commute in the FFRR about 50%) . It goes to get takeaways, goes to the shops, gets left in dodgy car parks etc.

When we go out somewhere nice , or for a weekend away it;s the FFRR Very Happy

If i had loads of spare cash then i guess i would maybe have a sport as a second car Very Happy

I can't see it myself.
If it had to be another LR, Defender for fun or Disco for practicallity.
Why pay the extra for a Disco with a Range Rover badge if you already have a Range Rover?

I just don't get it. Question

Will all due respect there is nothing 'mini' about a new shape mini.
It's the same size as many other small cars, so is just as safe in a crash as they are. Thumbs Up

Not strictly true, I'd rather my chances in a new Mini than a typical Eurobox - they stand up pretty well from what I've experienced Smile

True.. if it was just for me then i'd love a Defender as a second car, but i don;t think the missus would be too happy driving one into Manchester every day Very Happy

Seeing as we are hypothetically speaking, and it;s going to be a fair few years before i can afford this lot and become a 3 car family, then i will get her a Sport, and me a fully kitted 90 to go with the FFRR:D

And BTW, the old Mini was the worst vehicle to be in for a crash.
When the daily mail released the figures of actual accident results (not tests) anyone in an old mini had a greater % chance of death or serious injury than in ANY other car. Shocked
I'd never have one for that reason alone.

I think the old Mini was comparable to most of the other cars around when it was designed. Safety wasn;t even a concern back then Very Happy

That's because Alec Issigonis' views on car safety was this, "I design my cars with such good brakes and steering, that if anyone should crash one, that's their fault" Laughing He has a point!

Enough with the Mini-bashing now though eh Whistle Laughing 2006 Mercedes CLS
