lpg no tickover when starting

hi every time i start my hot engine she fires right up and promptly cuts out again. this has been going on for at least 2 years. also eml on when running on lpg. however if i give her a rev when starting all is good. she is running perfectly fine otherwise my lpg system is a king unit dont know if they are all that great not sure but i have done over 30000 miles with only this small niggle have had her serviced new filters etc but she still cuts out. tried cleaning injectors . made no diff . i am getting around 19 mpg 23mpg on motorway so she is pretty cheap to run i have also tried unplugging ecu . no diff . i found a split pipe on air intake fixed that and thought i had cured it but no . any ideas would be appreciated .
as an afterthought all owners of older l322 should check brake pipes under plastic cover running from back to front . i just had an mot done and we found these pipes were very corroded and an accident waiting to happen. i was very fortunate and quite lucky to find this as we had done a repair behind petrol tank cover had it all back together bled ready to roll when we seen damp patch seeping from behind cover further up line a bit of a shocker when we took it apart again .my car is by no means rusty underneath and i did not expect this mess . steel brake pipes on a car which is designed for off roading is a disgrace . mine is all copper now . hope this is of help to someone

I can't help specifically with your problem I'm afraid, other than to say ours has a King system fitted and it very well behaved.

Many LPG systems have a setting to delay the switch over until 20secs or so of start to prevent it trying to switch when the revs flare at start up. This may have been set too low or off so it's trying to get on to gas before it's running properly.

There will also be an overlap setting where it runs on LPG and petrol for a 1/2 second or so on changeover, if this is set low then it can cause your symptoms... Thumbs Up Pete

Sorry, misread that, so it dies when starting on petrol...???

Mine is set to start on LPG if it is warm enough so only uses petrol to start when cold...

No EML light on mine, runs superb on LPG, check your fuel trims on LPG, they should be less than 10% out... Pete

Could be leaking injectors, you switch off and they dribble petrol into the engine so when you start it, it's flooded and cuts out, then clears straight away and it's OK, leave it until it's cold and the petrol has evaporated and everything is normal again... Pete

Ah, OK, so you run on gas, switch off and it won't start, run on petrol and it does...

That and the EML lead me to think it needs someone with experience to set it up properly, if the tech says the old chestnut "they all have the light on" then find another one who knows how to do it properly.

It's very easy to make a car run on LPG and "appear" to work fine when in fact it is running very rich..... Pete

how did you get on with this ??

engine light should not be on unless the system is faulty, my guess for this problem would be the LPG system is running to rich, the petrol ecu is retarding the fuel flow to over compensate the extra LPG I would hazard a guess if you were to reset the light and run the car purely on petrol for 100 miles + all will be well

A very common problem when people who don't know what there doing play with LPG
