TD6 - to blank off EGR or remove and clean?

My 2003 TD6 has done 110k, recently been remapped and serviced but i realised in the 6 years of owning her, i've done nothing to the EGR valve. Would you advise removing it and cleaning it, or blanking it off completely?

Any advice guys?

Remove it. It's the work of Satan.

Took mine off the TD6 and never looked back. Throttle seemed to pick up earlier.... 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

If you do take it off and I recommend you do, clean it up and put in a safe place for possible future re-fitting just in case it becomes an MOT inspection item. Thumbs Up

I would have thought if you've had it remapped, it should have been blanked.
can't say for sure, as mine was already remapped and egr blanked when I bought it off previous owner.
Anyway, if it is still there, bin it. Laughing
Thumbs Up

I ditched mine last year and it's been good ever since Thumbs Up

I can't see it becoming a MOT inspection item... as it's mechanical on the TD6.... Whistle it doesn't show in the ECU, and it's under the engine cover, so you can't really see it Whistle Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

I don't have one, but if I did.....
Blank it.

Does the td6 have swirl flaps? I ditched them in my 3.0 beamer and that made a difference too. V8 or else ...

Thankfully that is one part of the engine that Land Rover got right, they declined the swirl flaps as they didn't want to as unreliable as a BMW...... and then they beat them on experience Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

The gearbox isn't that bad..... just don't tow in normal range between 30 and 50 for long times... if you have a tin tent and your sitting at 55+ then there are no worries Very Happy And BMW did inflict the GM 5L40E gearbox on themselves too.... wonder if there were any brown envelopes involved..... cos on paper it's obviously the wrong choice to start with Rolling Eyes Is there some smug BMW executive sitting on his German towel by the pool, living the life, and it's all paid for with our pain....... 100% remove it, Not long after getting my TD6 I did the delete, went to the trouble of removing the inlet manifold and cleaning all the gunk out, Vortex breather, K&N type filter and tune chip all at the same time. Difference was chalk and cheese. 2007 TDV8 VSE

Resounding vote then guys, cheers (was expecting as least 1 'perfectionist' who said leave it as RR wanted)

Will hopefully get round to it this coming week, I'm assuming an easy job? Is there anything to clean while its apart, or just swap it straight over?

Nice and easy job just to fit the blanking piece. No need to clean anything unless you want to take off the inlet manifold and clean out all the gunk. That is a disgusting task but again easy, just more time consuming 2007 TDV8 VSE
