Cattle gridding - cause and remedy

Can auto box experts shed light on this please? My 2008MY 3.6TDV8 with 126K miles occasionally 'vibrates' on acceleration in the lower gears. If I back off and accelerate more gently it stops. It doesn't do it all the time or for very long and usually, though not always, happens going up a hill. I am sure this is what is known as 'cattle-gridding' because it feels as though you are driving over a cattle grid. Smile
About a year ago my local independent LR specialist changed the gearbox oil and filter. It didn't have the problem before that. When I mentioned it he took the car back and put some 'additive' in the box which stopped it happening until a few months back.
Also, but possibly not related, I have recently noticed a brief 'groaning' noise from the centre of the car when backing off the throttle and maybe just before the box changes gear. This again seems to be more noticeable when more 'energy' is going through the driveline. This noise is not always there. In 'normal" driving the box shifts normally and smoothly and there are no particular noises. Very occasionally it appears to be reluctant to kick down when wanting to accelerate from say 40 mph. That is usually associated with a 'bong' engine system fault event but that might not be related or relevant.
Are the symptoms recognisable to those more expert than me and what might be a remedy?

Thanks Mikey, How bad should one expect it to get before it needs fixing? I have read posts by RRPhil and others on this forum suggesting that the TC can be repaired. Would this also explain the brief 'groaning' noise or is that more likely to be something to do with the gearbox itself?

A brand new Sachs unit is not that much more than a recon. In fact, I have a new unit on order for putting a TDV8 into my Disco 3 Thumbs Up

The more it judders, the more damage it will do to the rest of the gearbox. I’d make it a priority, TBH...
