Steering reach not working

Hi I've just noticed my steering wheel doesn't auto adjust when I get in my Ffrr
If I adjust it with the lever I've got up and down movement but when I adjust the reach I just hear the motor
I believe the nylon bracket can snap if so is this a hard job to do can I get to it in the footwell
Thanks for any info

It works very well.

Don't look like much for the money but fixed it and not that difficult to do.

Step by step instructions from Uli included, plus email link if you get stuck/need clarification.

You can replace the bracket fairly easily, have you found the small narrow drive shaft?- if its it not there its usually fallen down the back of the footwell either in the lower dash tray or mine was sitting on top of the trim behind the pedals. It will be there somewhere!

The bracket itself is pretty tough to locate fully - it needs a fair bit of force to pop it into place - I struggled and swore for about an hour before placing a large spark plug socket over the top of the raised nobly bit and then hitting that with a rubber mallet popped it into place. The bracket is available for about £30 (ridiculous price) and the part number is QYH500030

Hope that helps

Hi Bob

The spindle locates into a drive hole in the tilt mechanism at the bottom of the column, then I think the other end fits into the motor and the bracket then holds the motor to the column. Its been a while since I did it, but seem to remember it was fairly intuitive once I got in there. There are a couple of pictures on the forum somewhere which shows how it all fits together.

Hope that helps
Thanks

I'd suppose that it would make sense for those of us that did not yet have any issues with the mechanism to go to the bother of removing the bottom steering cover and greasing anything that moves. Smile

Well that didn't take long. I decided to go do it instead of talking about it. Very Happy All greased up now, 15 minutes work.
