Under heavy braking I get a graunching noise which sounds like it is coming from the nearside front wheel. It does not seem to happen under moderate braking. It also occurs occasionally on a steep downhill left hand hairpin near home - again under load I assume.

My immediate thought was that it was brakes but assume that I would have a warning light if the pads were worn, and in any event it is a deeper "graunchier" noise than that.

Any ideas?

Thanks for that. The problem is most obvious under heavy braking - even in a straight line - and without any lock on. Would / could that be the same thing ?

if its when you brake my first thoughts would be worn pads, have you checked them? ... - .- -.

Not managed to get out in the cold yet. Isn't there a warning light courtesy of our Bavarian friends?

theres only a sensor on one side so if the other side is worn you wont get a warning light.. ... - .- -.
