In the good old days a Bentley or Rolls Royce was the height of sophistication, and announced that you had arrived in style............. that new thing announces that you have arrived with NO style, poor eye sight and no taste, and with all that Chrome is squarely aimed at the bling brigade....... should be a big hit

Good shout! The fact that the prototypes were actually quicker 0-100MPH than any of the Conti GT's should be kept quiet...

I agree! Just ask the Italians You are quite right about the Queen too, but just look what she uses for really special events... I know I'm always going to be in the minority of people who put function over form, I don't give a flying 'fingy what people think of what I'm driving..as long as I'm having a good time in the driving seat 2012MY Range Rover 4.4 TDV8 Vogue...now gone! 2007MY Mercedes C200 Estate 'Albert' 1997MY Defender 90 TDI 'Vera' |

That's what it is that makes the FFRR (more so the L322) "attractive". It's a simple functional design, created to encase workings of the car, provide useable space and make it a pleasant place to be. Just because something is big and boxy doesn't mean it isn't attractive/beautiful/elegant. The L322 has the right balance of simple design without overdoing anything, IMO, the L405 is good too, but slightly less classy, IMO. Beauty to me is "not to this, not to that" etc. The FFRR is beautiful for not trying, which makes it an ideal car for those of us, like me, who don't feel their car has to make a "fashion statement" (LR's market down to a T, I would say, but sadly one they are inclined to move away from now. ). That's how I see it anyway. Perception is also major factor of course. Some people are inclinded to think something is good/attractive because they are told so, or that it has other values that they consider good. Take the Bentley - how many people will think it's beautiful because of the badge? How many will think it's beautiful because they are told it's "modern" and other such nonsense? There's a growing proportion of the world that is inclined to let others form their opinions just because they are seen to be in some sort of position of authority (so-called expert/government/large company etc.).
