The best practice is to drain the traditional way. The vacuum pump is a cheat to save time. It doesn't really suck the sludge.

Its not that difficult anyway. Suspension on the high then unscrew the engine guard at the bottom. Current:

Yep I was at the dealer the other day and asked them, they always drain via the sump.
Due to oil contamination from DFP regen I will be changing the oil midway between services for peace of mind. I found the correct genuine filter, sump plug and oil only came to £60. 2021 L405 Vogue D300

Hi James are you using castrol edge pro - and if so could i ask where you sourced it from with the jlr spec//?

I looked around for diy oil change instructions bbut cant find them - keent o do an oil change after a few thousand miles as a runing in service, afaik there isnt a service showing up on my service menu until 7k miles but i think an oil change after 2k miles would be good.

Singh.. Ive done plenty research on the oil and have always bought it in bulk. I have bought the Quantum Ford Spec 5w30 20 Litre drum for about £50 which is worth every penny. Thats £25 a change without compromising the quality of the oil.

I am using Shell Helix Ultra Professional 5w-30 AF-L (for my TDV6)

This stuff is ACEA C1 compliant and meets all JLR and Ford specification for DPF equipped cars. I found it much cheaper than the Castrol equivalent. on eBay I managed to find 6 litres for £42, Opie Oils also stock and free shipping for just under £50. Make sure it is the AF-L variant, it should say WSS-M2C934-B on the front of the bottle.

This is direct from the JLR website:

SAE 5W-30 meeting Jaguar Land Rover specification STJLR.03.5005, or WSS-M2C934-B. If unavailable, SAE 5W-30 meeting specification ACEA C2 may be used.

I am hoping to do my oil change this weekend, I will let you know how I get on. Mine has done 17k and has had 2 oil changes already (the 1st was due to oil contamination and flashed up on the dash, replaced at 5k under warranty) 2021 L405 Vogue D300

I know the thread in WIKI refers to 2 sump plugs but my local dealer seems to believe there is only one.

My sump plug part number is 1013938 (3.0 TDV6), it was only a few quid from the dealers.
