The best practice is to drain the traditional way. The vacuum pump is a cheat to save time. It doesn't really suck the sludge.

Yep I was at the dealer the other day and asked them, they always drain via the sump.

Hi James are you using castrol edge pro - and if so could i ask where you sourced it from with the jlr spec//?

Singh.. Ive done plenty research on the oil and have always bought it in bulk. I have bought the Quantum Ford Spec 5w30 20 Litre drum for about £50 which is worth every penny. Thats £25 a change without compromising the quality of the oil.

I know the thread in WIKI refers to 2 sump plugs but my local dealer seems to believe there is only one.

My sump plug part number is 1013938 (3.0 TDV6), it was only a few quid from the dealers.
