[SOLVED] Not starting like wot it did (but runs OK)

For the last five years it has been:

Chatata Vroom !

Last few days:

Chatata Chatata Chatata Chatata Vroom!

Still runs and drives fine once started.

Is the same hot or cold e.g. after a run.

Age? Damp? Glow Plugs (I always wait for the lights to go out) ? Fuel (filter only 20K old)? Dodgy Fuel (from Supermarket Laughing)? Battery (get good starter turnover though)?

I'll pop the IIDTool on when I get a chance .

Could it be the in line fuel pump struggling to get the pressure up ?

Though to be fair, when mine stopped working, it just didn't start....... 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

I think you could be right Paul, with the engine getting a bit bogged down over the weekend and what I've read through the search on the forum. I will see what the inde has to say's in the morning.

Not the battery, charged up and trickled overnight, same 3 or 4 chatatas.

Given it doesn't seem to matter whether the engine/system is up to temperature or not, but it runs fine when started thinking injectors too ? Though I would love it to be dodgy fuel. Will try some injector cleaner next. overdue on this anyway. .

How old is the battery ?

even though you say fully charged it may be on its way out and quite simply not spinning the engine over fast enough to get it to fire

are all glow plugs ok?

Could be injector related, my e39 5 series did that one day was instant starting the next was as you say turning over a lot first.

May be something else entirely thogh..... There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Probably need to do a leak off test.

I had the same on my x5, two injectors were failing by over fueling causing longer cranking before firing up.

The other possibility could be the wiring loom, they are known to fail.
