i would find someone with a diagnostic hand held, like the typical rsw allcomms or iidtool etc, and get a code from it, this will tell you the item that requires checking. it totally possible any unit may have failed, or been disrupted etc. but the first item to check, (i have same car) is the battery terminal blow-off yellow connector. easily knocked about when dealing with battery connections. can also be the airbag ecu.. sometimes not re-settable, and needs changing with a secondhand one. any memebers in your area? with diagnostic? -otherwise, you are going to fail your (english) mot test. not so sure in Ireland...

Yep, as John says... could also be the plugs under the front seats, they can get disturbed by stuff under the seats (just had to sort SWMBO TT today, a stray ice scraper had knocked the plug enough to put the light on) All airbag plugs are in yellow so they are easy to find and check but as John says for most faults you need to have the system reset after fixing the fault or the light stays on....

As above but could easily be the steering column clock ring... Do more & more of these as the cars get older

I had a random airbag light that all comms read as 'Battery disconnect unit' which is the red plunger that fires of to disconnect the battery after a heavy crash as did a friend of mine.
