Suggest you get a code reader. Over the long term it will pay for itself Howard

Thanks, but that's way too technical for me! I'd struggle to understand it. |

Yes. Lots of comments about petrol V8s which don't help, plus a couple of comments about split turbo hose, which is apparently an easy fix. I was asking the members on the off chance one of them might have experienced something similar. |

Three thoughts from experience, could be first sign of alternator failing, battery having a dead cell or I agree with the last comment, check your fuel level. Have had all three on a previous car. Hope these help. Rehab is for quitters!!!

Is it a 3.6 or a 4.4 you are enquiring about sir? They both have a set of individual problems, but would need to know which model you have? |

And if its a 3.6 have you already checked & eliminated the hoses ?

Usually with the turbo / intercooler hoses, the car goes into limp mode. It's also fairly easily recreated - just accelerate really hard - you will usually also see a trail of black smoke.

Car went to the dealers and they plugged it in. Turns out its one of the EGR valves, which they will replace. Price for the work was £698 all in, covered by LR extended warranty. I did ask if both sides should be done, but the warranty only covers the failed part, so the second would be down to me, so I'll leave it. |

How much extra would both sides have been - any saving in doing 2 together ?

The dealer said only one had failed, so no point doing both. I said Sod's law would mean the other would fail soon afterwards, but the dealer said that would be unusual in his experience. To be honest, I'm not that fussed, because if the other one does go, I'm still covered by warranty. Of course many on here will say I should have got both done at the same time! |

Interesting to see what happens to your turbo now? As they have a funny habit of going BANG very soon after changing EGR’s... Especially if its the N.S. Bank EGR... |
