TDV8 BLOWING SMOKE

2007 Range Rover TDV8 (120k miles) Blowing smoke (Lots of) on hard acceleration / kickdown. Engine running smooth and no loss of power. No smoke at idle. This smoke has only appeared approx 1 week ago. I have driven it hard in sport mode thinking it was carbon build up but as yet have not been able to clear it. I have read forums and seen suggestions re additives but as yet have not tried. Anyone had the same problem and been sorted with additive. Please any help greatly appreciated.
Cheers Thumbs Up

what colour of smoke?

black soot? ( overfuelling )
black/blue fumes? ( oil burning - bad breathers / turbo seals )
white/grey smoke? ( unburnt / partial burnt fuel - bad timing )

The above is extremely generic, but you can see that the colour can give pointers to the problem V8 or else ...

Its Black Soot, Billows out as long as I keep the foot down hard and I can see it clearly in the Mirrors. I have also noticed I have dropped from 23mpg to 21.5mpg but have put this down to me messing around with the throttle. If its over fuelling whats the solution. Not due a service for another 6k miles.

This problem was solved by replacing the air intake pipe which had a small hairline crack in it (underneath). Crack was not visible from above and was a simple and cheap €25.00 fix. It has since happened to the other one but this time I knew and had it sorted in minutes. I have also seen this happen to a v8 BMW X5

This happened to me, it was the Turbo inlet pipes, both rubber pipes were cracked on the underside. When I first noticed the smoke I thought i had blown a Turbo, but was very happy to find out after calling the independent it was a quick cheap fix.
