United Kingdom 2007 Range Rover Vogue TDV8 Barolo Black
FBH

I'm two weeks into the ownership of my new RR. I knew it had a remote FBH but have not had the opportunity to use it in anger.
So I had to leave the house quite early this morning. It was cold and misty and miserable.
I opened the bedroom window (about 30 meters from the car), pressed the start button on the remote and left it running for 20 minutes.
Opening the door and getting in was an absolute pleasure. I know I can be easily pleased at times but this was just fantastic.
It is by far my most liked gadget on the vehicle. What a fantastic idea.
Definitely more accepting of the impending winter Smile

Paul,

Yeah, I've read that on here. I suppose typically during the cold weather you also have heated seats, heated wheel, blowers and de-misters on a fair bit too.
One to keep an eye on.

I don't know if the RR is the same but the X5 Webasto version had a sensor that would not allow the FBH to work if the battery charge was too low. It would always leave enough battery charge to start the car. 2017 5.0 Autobiography Supercharged

at least it worked when you turned it on!

around now until xmas there is usually a few members who have problems with the heaters!

Its is as you say a brilliant gadget, I tend not to use it too much on the FF but have installed a remote on the Disco and that goes on every morning in the winter, from the bedside table, so that when i go out the car is nice and defrosted! There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

So, on this subject I have a TD6 Vogue but no remote is there an easy way to check that all I need to do is buy a remote from ebay and try it or is there a world of expensive bits waiting for me?

Hi Brian,

Look in the RHS fuse board in the boot and see if you have this.

It won't have the blue wire but might have the module.

If you have the module all you need is the remote.

If not you need both.

Brian, FBH was fitted as standard on the TD6. You are most likely to be missing the remote. John

You won't necessarily have the receiver, and your heater won't necessarily be enabledto use as a parking heater.

Is it available from the front screen under Aux ventilation?

I'll nip out and have a look now but problem no2 is that I have no front screen - the previous owner "upgraded" to a Kenwood all singing and dancing head unit Confused

Had a look see and don't see the module - I have a trailer socket thing (there is a tow bar) and few relays and fuses dotted about and one flat 4 pin connector sitting there doing nothing (but it's not a blue wire) - so not having a factory head unit, and no module I assume this would maybe be an expensive "toy" that I can do without - just something I can add to my "wish list" then Laughing

You won't have the blue wire. That is a 'home made' antenna in lieu of the correct one. However having recently fitted Paul's module I can vouch for its effectiveness.

The flat connector you have free is probably the one you want, but should have 6 pins and three cables.

If fitted the module lives on the reverse side of the fuse and relay box. Maybe uploading a picture of your equipment bay would help?

Its not that expensive an upgrade. Paul very kindly sold me his unit for £65 and I used the IID tool I was going to buy anyway to enable the heater for working as a parking heater. My only snag was that having an early 2002 FF I had the old square connector, but I simply de-pinned it, insulated the pins seperately and used a picture from here to see which cable went to which pin.

I'm just waiting for a frosty morning now to try it 'in anger'.

easy way of finding out if park heating is available to you is

find black plug for FBH reciver in fuse box side of boot should have 3 (might have 4 cant remember) wires going to it BROWN , ,WHITE&GREEN ,RED&YELLOW (and may have a RED)

bridge out the WHITE&GREEN and theRED&YELLOW wires with a bit of wire and if you have park heating it should fire up

cut the origanal plug off mine and conected a GSM dialer to start it up
