I just had my air conditioning regassed as it wasn't working, was certain I would need a new condenser but they said there were no leaks and it just needed regassing so is now icy cold. The guy said its best to leave it on all the time and just adjust the temp as required, do you guys leave yours on constantly? Was wondering if so does it affect your fuel economy much?

i leave mine on all year round

keeps all the windows clear of condensation

De-mists the windows in no time

also air-con needs to be run regularly to lubricate the pump and stop the seals drying out

supposed to be more economical than driving with the window open over a set speed

if its economy you want you have the wrong vehicle

I leave mine set on 18 degrees everything on auto and let it sort its self out. Not using on a regular basis causes more problems and you can end up with damp musty smell coming from the vents.

If you are worried about economy and the small difference aircon or or off would make I think you have the wrong vehicle. There is a difference between knowing your sh!t and knowing you're sh!t

As above - I leave it one, set the temperature and let the system work it out.

Loads of benefits having it on all the time - one tiny benefit turning it off when not needed. However, any slight saving you may make in economy will be wiped out many times by the cost of maintenance to a dried out pump etc.

If it's like mine, it comes on by default when you switch on. I always switch it off unless I need to cool down (which hasn't been the case in the 6 weeks since I've owned it) or else to demist the car when we all get in soaking wet (which has been the case for most of the 6 weeks since I've owned it).

I also leave mine all year for all the good reasons the others have mentioned.

There are 2 types of people that don't run it all the time. Those that are going to get a big air con bill and be skint, and those that are going to get a big air con bill and not be skint.....

Seriously though, the system needs to be run to move the refrigerant round and keep the rubber seals lubricated. Otherwise they go dry, crack and the gas leaks out........

Plus as posted already, it stops the windows misting up, dries the car out..... Gives a better air quality to my mind.....

I'm just wondering whether everyone leaves the automatic air re circulation on. Supposed to switch to recirc if pollution detected. Never used it myself....... 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

Leave mine on all the time, no good reason to turn it off, keeps the seals lubed up and the refrigerant circulating. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Another for leaving the air con on , I did with the land cruiser before hand but not with the D1......and lost all the gas!

The b x they say in switch it on at least once a month is utter rubbish..... but of course its not if you like getting the spanners out  If it dont work.......burn it!

If the IId tool cant fix it.......burn the FF.

If the FF cant be fixed......buy a Land Cruiser!

If the LC cant be fixed..............................................BUY a horse !!

Always leave the A/C on and use AUTO setting. Just adjust the temp with the temp dials. This is how the car likes it and keeps the electric dry due to it dehumidifying effects. Its AIR CONDITIONING not Air Cooling.
