they dont normally use coolant, keep an eye on it, it could be a cracked cylinder leaking into the combustion area or into the oil, check the oil for white sludge , or maybe you have overfilled it , the floating dipstick has a small ball on it with the fill level when cold 2002 td6 vogue, 06 supercharged facelift

Do you have any tell tale white crust anywhere around the header tank? Mine used to use about 1/4 a L every month or so. Then out of nowhere my header tank split in half. It's never used a drop since.

I have had to top up with about 1/4 pint once a month, no sign of leaks or problems, guess its going somewhere so will probably have to wait til it blows! Big Cry .

Thanks Guys

The morning after I had the car back from Nene it leaks as usual using 200/500ml daily.

Please some-one help me.

Again today had the gas side checked, no leaks.

No Sludge,
No white guff.

What else could it be? 15MY SDV8 Vogue SE

Only a guess Jem0911 Question

Was the pressure test (which found no leaks) conducted via the coolant header tank? - maybe the seal with the pressure tester was a better seal than the header tank cap - which might be leaking/steaming when at full temperature.

Like I said - its only a guess Neutral

Thank you for the post might well be case.
Before the visit to Nene I could see a small
puddle on the drive?

Radweld my only option now as three garages have tried to find a leak. 15MY SDV8 Vogue SE

Do not put Radweld in.... really, not in that motor. They have enough of an issue trying to cool the gearbox without adding an additional hose / fin blocking agent.

Consider doing the following but only if you are Mechanically Confident.Take the lower plastic cover off from below the engine.
Remove the viscous fan and cowling. (10 mins).
Start the car and bring it up towards running temp. Watch the temp like a hawk and do not let it overheat. (Bear in mind you have removed the viscous fan so it will if you let it).

I had a pinhole in the radiator of a LSE and for the life of me, couldn't find it. It does not help that the windmill that is attached to the front of the engine disipates any leaking fluid rapidly.

By removing the fan and cowling you have significantly improved visibility aroundthe full radiator, water pump and miriad of hoses so pinholes will be easier to spot.

easiest way, pressure check !

Go to any workshop and let set the cooling system under pressure. It will sputter somewhere!

Maybe itīs a bad hose connection, maybe its the rad, maybe itīs the expansion tank ..

The quickest, easiest, cheapest and savest way is a pressure check... XJC, RRV8, Series1 86 and 107% of real pleasure

I have had this happen, check the radiator near the top right hand corner (if sitting in the drivers seat). This has happened to 3 radiators. What happens is the leak is so small it evaporates before it drips on the floor, you can usually smell the burning antifreeze.

Stewart.
