Can I stop the mirrors folding when I lock the car

I am in my first week of Land Rover ownership, its a 2010 5.0 supercharged Autobiography. When I lock the car, both door mirrors auto fold. However, for 95% of the time I don't need them folded and I can't seem to find a way to turn off the auto fold function. On the odd occasion that I need to fold the mirrors, I can always press the fold button on the door. Can anyone point me in the right direction. Thanks. 2010 5.0 SC Autobiography

I only think it can be done via the CCF files so, by someone with appropriate diagnostics kit sir... Neutral

Please do check the user setup screen (steering wheel buttons & centre of speedo clocks) but i don’t think it can be controlled from there... Thumbs Up

I have gone through the menu but there doesn't seem to be the option. In a Mercedes you can select the auto fold function on or off. To be honest I am not sure what a CCF file is, would a main dealer be able to do do that? Thanks 2010 5.0 SC Autobiography

Sorry my friend... Car Configuration Files... Think of them as the DNA, you have hundreds of them and dependant as to what spec your car has, or has not! Depends what extra’s you order from factory or dealer, they simply plug your car in and switch the appropriate CCF ON or OFF...

Yes a dealer should be able to switch this function off for you...

One quick point to think on first sir, all 09> RR’s have this function, if yours is locked with the mirrors out... Are you going to give a savvy thief the impression its NOT locked? Gathering more attention then you might want if you have accidentally left something inside?

Just a thought Bow down

Craig - thank you for the very quick reply, really helpful. I also hadn't thought about the mirrors being out giving the appearance that the car is unlocked. 2010 5.0 SC Autobiography

Just in case it helps someone else, I took the car into Lookers and the short answer is they cannot turn off the mirror auto fold. They showed me the print out of what they could alter and they are; Day light running lights, Speed dependent front windshield wipers, Rear continuous wipers, 3 flash turn signals and Exit (not sure exactly what Exit relates to). 2010 5.0 SC Autobiography

Was looking at this as well as the folding is not necessary most of the time. The handbook simply tells you that they will fold.... No hint that they can be turned off...... There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

given the cost of a replacement mirror i think i'd leave it set how it is.

I mean does it matter if they fold in when the car is locked? You wont be in the car and so long as they fold back out again when you are in it.

This car is a keeper so just having the mirrors folding and unfolding hundreds of times a year, for no reason it seemed sensible to see if you can turn off the function. You can on every other car I have had. The car is 5 years old with 40,000 miles and when they fold they already sound a bit squeaky and worn. I don't know what the cost of two new mirror motors and fold mechanisms are and the hassle of changing them but I was hoping just turning them off would be cheaper, if you don't need it. I have spoken to Britpart and their IID BT Part number DA6414 can turn off the mirrors, so I might just treat myself to one anyway which I am sure will be useful for the future. 2010 5.0 SC Autobiography

If you're planning on keeping the car then an IID is a sound investment.

You'd be in the catch 22 though, where if you don't use the fold mech enough it seizes up. A dose of silicone lubricant on the plastics stops the squeakyness.
