14v ish at idle. 14.4v @ 2k RPM.

my 4.2 sc voltage is the same as steves. ... - .- -.

Hi, thanks for this great advice. I went out and did what you said and put all electrics on then held her at 2k revs for a while. The voltage still didnt go above 13.7v.

Had the same symptoms myself. It is worth checking and double checking all the connections but I suspect a new alternator will do the job. I suspect it's the regulator that is at fault but as I couldn't find anyone to repair this alone, I had the buy the whole alternator.

Thanks mate thats good to know, i had a look online and it seems a new one is around £120 so not bad at all. Did you fit yours yourself, how hard was it if so? the viscous fan has been removed on mine so i dont have that to contend with atleast |
