Thanks Jake. Yes I noticed that too. If not will phone around tomorrow. I suspect it will be tranny out to get any clear idea of the problem. ______________________________

Until you get someone knowledgable to look at it sir everyone here would just be guessing... As you rightly said it could be the transmission, could also be any of these too the front or rear diff, one of 4 driveshafts, transfer box broken...

I suspect transfer box motor or calibration, range sensor or solenoid as the hi/lo LEDs are flashing. |

Does the park lock hold the vehicle with the hand brake off or does it just roll freely?

The hand brake and park all work as normal. There's no unusual noise in park or neutral. ______________________________

Would appear to be a transmission issue then, rather than something downstream. It’s just that we’ve had a couple of instances on here of 6HP26’s failing because the output shaft hadn’t apparently been coated with anti-seize grease at the factory and the spline into the transfer box had subsequently failed/worn away through fretting corrosion. Anyway, if your park lock holds then this would rule out this particular cause.

Scrap that Phil. I double checked this morning and park is not holding. So it could be as you say. Is the fix a big job? Should I get anything else done while the box is out? ______________________________

Also, Park will only hold if you have a complete drive train... i.e. 4 driveshafts, 2 working diffs, props shafts etc etc so well worth checking them first sir |

Thanks Cam, yes I started thinking back to your possibilities. So handbrake on, jack it up one corner at a time, and check each wheel for movement and noise, starting at rear? ______________________________

No handbrake as that will lock the rear wheels sir... (the handbrake is like a regular car these days) |
