Good luck cl0ud, I hope you get it all to work. I like places that do work properly and will pay the correct price for that i.e. value for money.

Plus that I like people that do a job the correct way and would give them my business even if they are a bit more expensive than the "rest".

Old Dutch saying : Goedkoop is Duurkoop, basically means Cheap is Expensive. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!

^^ Wot he said! Plus it's hard to buy a good reputation, I would personally either rebuild the engine myself or give it to someone who has proved, by reputation, that they know their stuff. There are way too many people selling cheap secondhand, untested and repainted, engines as reconditioned. And it does leave you in a difficult place, factory recon, with all the financial pain, unknown recon, and the leap of faith that goes with it, or DIY / 2nd hand.
Buying a proper recon at a reasonable price would be the best option, as it should almost totally eliminate any chance of failure, will come with some form of guarantee, and be a lot more sensibly priced than the stealers. Lets face it if your only competition is L/R, you shouldn't have any problems finding customers Wink

Cannot understand why anyone would buy a secondhand/recon from anyone without knowing what sort of business they were. There is a local firm near me that is an established engine builder/engineer for more than 40 years, have never heard a bad word,if it were me I would send the engine to them and get them to rebuild it and I would get MY original engine back with the original engine number .Why would you do anything else!!

Rebuilding an engine properly takes time, If I was to suffer terminal engine failure during the summer, when I do most of my work, I would be forced to fit either a recon or replace the car very quickly, with in a couple of days quick Shocked Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

So, will you be able to re engineer the issue with the bottom end or has there been a fix found already???

After banks, estate agents and any body suppling mobile phone services, engine reconditioning business have firmly established themselves as chancers in my book. BBC rouge traders have turned a few over in the last 10 years.

I guess everyone is different,i am lucky enough to have 2 vans to run around in and if my 4.4 packed up I would want it repaired and put back where it belongs, borrow or rent a car if needed.

There aren't many places prepared to rent you a motor that's going to be pulling 3 tons + offroad, and I can't think of too many people who'd lend me a car for work Sad Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!
