There's been some attempt to help me on this but to no avail. Situation is when button is pressed and held it drops a few inches and stops to get it fully open takes a few presses, the same when closing. If the button is "dabbed" to use the auto open and close features it still stops in the same places - is there a reset procedure? Geoff

Hi there, I had a similar problem to this.

Looking for "reset" instructions, I think you get it to the top, the hold the switch up for about 5 seconds, then get it to the bottom and hold the switch down for 5 seconds.

That didn't cure the problem for me - What had happened to mine is that the window glass had somehow come free from the U shaped glass holders that are part of the mechanism. The bottom of the glass sits in them.

This somehow resulted in the glass getting the wrong side of the rubber seal (within the door itself) which meant it stopped at certain points on the way up or down. How I spotted it was to get the window to the bottom and then shine a torch down - in my case it was the wrong side of the rubber at the front near the hinge

The glass should be bonded to the U shaped holders, so my local Indie took the door panel off and bonded the window back in place. When the window is coming down, the only thing that attaches the glass to the mechanism is the glue, so he used some adhesive that he got from his friendly Autoglass repairman.

Sadly the reset procedure didn't do it, the window travels for a short while then stops, pressing the button again doesn't do anything, keeping it pressed doesn't do anything either. I generally have to wait a few seconds then press again but not always. I can always get it fully shut or fully open but either requires multiple releasing and repressing the switch, I think 4 or 5 times before it is fully open or closed.
Not urgent, as I say I can get it closed but I would like to get it fixed if possible - any more ideas welcome  Geoff

I'm with mechanism as well, if it has too much resistance it will trip out for a while, sounds like that's whats doing it, try helping it up or down with your hand and see if it will do it then, if it does work then it needs a stripdown to see what's what..... Pete

Craig, you read my mind, but Ill have to do it when SWMBO is out as she doesn't like me messing about with the car on the drive. She even came out to ask me what I was doing this morning when I was winding the window up and down  Geoff

Battery reset failed to cure problem, also ran the routine on the ID tool for both a complete vehicle reset and new battery all with no success. The windows seems to move freely enough but just stops several times - all in the wrong place! Geoff

Anti-trap

The anti-trap function is enabled for window closing in both the inching and one-shot modes. If an anti-trap sensor is activated while a window is closing, the window motor is reversed. The reversing time is proportionate to the preceding closing time and varies between 0.5 and 2.0 seconds.
In an emergency, for example if the anti-trap sensor is faulty, the anti-trap function can be overridden by holding the window switch in the one-shot closed position.

Does the door window regulator operate correctly?
Yes

No

Check for any foreign material or obstruction in the door window glass seal.
Is the door window glass seal free from foreign material?
Yes
GO to D4.
No
Remove any foreign material from door window glass seal and lubricate the seal. Test the system for normal operation.

D4: CHECK THAT THE DOOR WINDOW GLASS SEAL IS INSTALLED CORRECTLY
1
Check that the door window glass seal is installed correctly.
Is the door window glass seal installed correctly?
Yes
GO to D5.
No
Install the door window glass seal correctly. Test the system for normal operation.

D5: CHECK THAT THE DOOR WINDOW GLASS SEAL IS NOT WORN IN THE CHANNELS

Visually check that the door window glass seal is not worn in the door channels.
Is the door window glass seal worn in the channels?
Yes
Install a new door window glass seal as necessary. Test the system for normal operation.
No
Install the door window glass. Adjust the door window glass referring to the Door glass setting procedure in this procedure. Test the system for normal operation.

D6: CHECK THE DOOR WINDOW REGULATOR MOTOR INTEGRITY
1
Visually inspect the cables, rollers and rail sliders for foreign material.
Are the cables, rollers and rail sliders free from foreign material?
Yes
GO to D7.
No
Remove any foreign material. Test the system for normal operation. If the concern persists, install a new door window regulator as necessary. REFER to: Front Door Window Regulator Motor (501-11, Removal and Installation) / Rear Door Window Regulator Motor (501-11, Removal and Installation).

D7: CHECK THE VOLTAGE TO THE DOOR WINDOW REGULATOR MOTOR
1
Using a multimeter, check the voltage to the door window regulator motor.
Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?
Yes
Install a new door window regulator as necessary. REFER to: Front Door Window Regulator Motor (501-11, Removal and Installation) /

I'm thinking just leave it shut - but no doubt it'll continue to bug me until I fix it because it doesn't work proper like.

Also sun roof doesn't lazy open/shut although I think there is a reset procedure for that.
